Where Your Money Goes
Funding needs change from year to year, but donors can rest assured that their gifts to BC Children's Hospital always go to areas where they are needed most, or to the areas in which donors have designated their gifts.
Our cost of fundraising is 20 per cent (18.5 per cent in 2010/11). Funds that are disbursed after expenses are allocated as follows:
43% THE CAMPAIGN FOR BC CHILDREN
Supporting the construction of the new Children's Hospital and Child Health BC.
22% SPECIFIC ENDOWMENTS & DESIGNATIONS
Including diabetes, cardiac sciences, genetic research and pediatric oncology endowments, and other areas.
25% RESEARCH INTO CHILDHOOD DISEASES
Including clinical genetics research, diabetes research, nutrition research, mental health research, infectious and inflammatory disease research and the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics.
5% SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT
Such as blood pressure monitors, ECG machines, critical care ventilators and syringe pumps.
3% HEALTH PROMOTION & EDUCATION
Including clinical fellowships, education grants, online learning and leadership recruitment.
2% SUNNY HILL HEALTH CENTRE FOR CHILDREN
Including research and education, equipment, the Shriners Gait Lab, leadership and program development, the “I Can Talk Too" Program, the Child Development Evidence Centre, and patient activities.
