South Asian

Sat sri akal! Namaste!

BC’s South Asian community is a long-time supporter of BC Children's Hospital, raising awareness and funds for more than a decade. Throughout the year, community members show their support for child health care by organizing and donating at radiothons, dances, dinners, walk-a-thons, and other fundraising initiatives.

The generosity of the community is celebrated on the A World of Smiles telethon each spring.

You can support BC Children’s Hospital in this community too by getting involved in our South Asian committee. For more information about the South Asian division, or to organize your own South Asian fundraising initiative, please contact Angela Fox at 604-875-2511 or afox@bcchf.ca.

The South Asian committee, through A World of Smiles, is part of BC Children’s Hospital Miracle Weekend. To view a full list of the 2010 Miracle Weekend supporters, please click here.

Miracle Kids

In many ways, Arshdeep “Arsh” Sidhu is a typical 10-year-old boy from Abbotsford. He loves to play video games, spend time with family and excels in his favourite school subjects, math and science.

But in spring 2008, on the way home from a relative’s wedding reception, the Sidhu’s were hit by a drunk driver. While his family was largely unscathed, Arsh was critically injured and airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital.
