Young Ambassador Program raises $1-million for BC Children’s Hospital
After surviving cancer as a child, Arthur Chan was determined to help kids who faced a similar journey.
Along with eight friends, Arthur created the Young Ambassador Program (YAP) in 2010—an initiative that inspires youth to participate in philanthropic activities to enhance the lives of kids at BC Children’s Hospital. While the program started with a few small events, it quickly grew into so much more.
YAP now hosts an array of fundraising events each year, from its signature Holiday Tea, to Mother’s Day Flower Sale and the bottle recycling initiative, Recycle for Love. The program’s members have also increased to about 100 youth.
This year, YAP reached an incredible milestone as the group has now raised $1-million for the hospital since its inception. The Young Ambassadors are truly extraordinary youth and continue to enrich our community and improve the lives of countless children and families across our province.
“Philanthropy has no boundaries,” said Chan, who is now 21.
“Regardless of your age, ethnicity, education background or experience, you can achieve great things by simply believing in something.
We believe that together, we can be a catalyst for change and inspire other youth to get involved in their community.” — Arthur Chan, YAP founder
